Jon Colello, President of PartnerRe Ltd., has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors for the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA)—a national trade association representing property and casualty reinsurers operating in the United States—during the organisation’s 57th Annual Meeting held on April 25, 2025.
Joining Colello in leadership roles are Nic Berg, Head of Property & Casualty North America at SCOR, who was elected Vice Chair, and John Bender, Chairman of Reinsurance and Risk Management at Allied World, who was named Secretary-Treasurer.
Colello was named President of PartnerRe in April 2024 and is responsible for the company’s global non-life underwriting operations.
Prior to that, he served as CEO of P&C Americas, overseeing PartnerRe’s Property & Casualty and Health businesses across the US, Canada, and Latin America. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Colello joined PartnerRe in 2019 after serving as President of North America at AXIS Re.
At AXIS, he held several leadership positions and managed underwriting platforms in Bermuda, Canada, and the US. He holds an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Vermont.
Nic Berg, who now serves as Vice Chair of the RAA board, leads SCOR’s Property & Casualty operations across North America. Before joining SCOR in 2022, he spent nearly two decades at AIG in a variety of senior underwriting roles across New York, London, and Paris, and also served as Chief Claims Officer for North America from 2017 to 2019.
Berg began his career in the finance department at SCOR US in New York. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Paris II and a Master’s in International Risk Management from HEC business school in France. He is based in New York City.
John Bender, now Secretary-Treasurer of the RAA board, is Chairman of Reinsurance and Risk Management at Allied World Reinsurance Company and a member of its Executive Board.
He oversees the company’s reinsurance operations, enterprise risk management, and catastrophe modelling. Bender previously led Allied World’s global reinsurance operations from 2011 to 2023 and played a central role in building out the company’s US reinsurance platform.
In addition to his professional work, he co-founded the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that has awarded more than $350 million for childhood cancer research. Bender holds a Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University, where he serves on the Board of Governors.
