QBE North America, a provider of property, casualty, and specialty insurance, has extended its support to Blue Forest, a conservation finance nonprofit focused on restoring forests, protecting watersheds, and preventing catastrophic wildfires.

Until November 15, 2024, QBE’s Possibilities Fund will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000, any donation of $100 or more from the public or employees directed to Blue Forest’s FRB Catalyst Facility via the CataCap platform at ImpactAssets.

This initiative, the first of its kind in the US, allows QBE employees to participate in philanthropic impact investments in three key areas: climate resilience, racial equity, and gender equality.

Philanthropic impact investing enables donors to direct funds to organisations and projects that aim to create positive social or environmental impacts, with the potential for financial returns.

Over time, any returns flow back to donors’ CataCap accounts, which can then be reinvested in other philanthropic opportunities or granted to nonprofits.

By extending this matching grant to the public, QBE aims to introduce more people to CataCap’s capabilities, attracting new donors interested in using philanthropic impact investments to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires, while also allowing funds to be recycled for future causes.

QBE Foundation has been supporting Blue Forest since 2022 through a combination of grants and philanthropic impact investments made via the QBE Foundation and the QBE Possibilities Fund.

“QBE is proud to be a long-standing supporter of Blue Forest,” said Mark Pasko, QBE North America’s Chief Legal Officer.

“QBE’s purpose is to enable a more resilient future and that includes supporting organisations like Blue Forest that work to build social, environmental and economic resilience in our communities.”
